PAW PRINTZ - Caring for Companion Animals
Like most people – I once thought possums ate gum leaves and wallabies ate grass. And they do. But there’s a lot more. Like our domesticated cats and dogs – native wildlife require a varied and balanced diet. They require specific handling, adequate space, and environmental stimulation.
I do not wish to enter into the debate of ‘wildlife as pets’. That was not the reason I became so determined to write a series of books. It was the animals’ well being - each individuals welfare that prompted me into spending many months researching the information to help make those species lives whom are kept in captivity, happier and healthier.
Whether we agree with it or not – the fact remains that today many native species are kept in captivity for the purposes of private admiration. I just wanted to do my bit to ensure they get as much quality care each and every one of them deserves.
